About Pakihi Valley Care Group

The group is a non-profit organisation comprising residents from the Pakihi Valley (near Opotiki) and other interested people. It was established in May 2003 to preserve native flora and fauna among which can be counted North Island weka, North Island brown kiwi, whio, native falcon, tui, bellbird and kereru. Long tailed bat, tusked weta and hochstetters frog are also present. The group meets every two months on a Sunday afternoon and is always looking for new members or helpers to clear weeds, maintain a trapping roster for stoats, and undertake tree plantings with local schools.
