February boasts an impressive number of biking events in the Bay. Not only is it Play in the Bay Bike Month and Bike Wise Month but there is the popular Rotorua Bike Festival from the 13-23rd February too.
This month of biking extravaganza provides so many awesome opportunities for the whole community. It doesn’t seem to matter what type of bike you own, whether you’re into extreme downhill or like to putt along the beach on your cruiser there is something for everyone, all ages and abilities.
Last year’s Rotorua Bike Festival saw 30 events over 10 days with 10,000 wheels taking part… that’s pretty impressive. This year is set to be even better with a packed calendar and the festivals third year of operation. Check out this vid with all the action.
Sport Bay of Plenty are bringing back the popular Tour de Bay corporate challenge. Grab three workmates and get on your bike. The goal is to accumulate kilometres by cycling during February anytime, anywhere. Do you think you could clock up 410km to get around the bay?
Bike Wise month is all about getting more people on their bikes and doing it safely. If you’re feeling a bit rusty and it’s been a while since those wheels have been spinning head to the Bike Wise website for some safety tips and tricks and a whole lot of other useful info.
If you are a keen commuter don’t forget about Go By Bike Day, in Tauranga and Whakatane on the 11th Feb and Rotorua on the13th Feb. Check in at one of the Sport BOP pit stops and pick yourself up some goodies.
