About Nukuhou Saltmarsh Care Group

Focused on the saltmarshes where the Nukuhou River joins the harbour, this group has killed hundreds of pest animals since it got up and running. The saltmarsh boasts an impressive ceramic display showing what birds can be seen there and a boardwalk extends into the marsh for a short distance. Along with pest management, the group also conducts regular bird counts, undertakes restoration planting and weeding and is developing further visitor attractions. Several other restoration projects around the harbour benefit from the Nukuhou Saltmarsh Care Group’s support.
