Outdoor exploration and digital technology combine in an innovative Amazing Race-style school holiday activity that encourages kids and adults alike to explore the natural playgrounds our forest, parks and reserves provide.

From Saturday, September 30 to Sunday, October 15, Virtually on Track is hosting a free app-based challenge across three Gem sites:

The free app, ‘goosechase’, challenges teams to complete a series of physical and mental ‘missions’ specific to each location. Each mission is worth a certain number of points, with bonus points awarded for going the extra mile, so teams can compete to reach the top score.
From posing with wildlife to finding native plants, goosechase missions are a fun and exciting way to explore and play in our local parks and reserves. Complete your missions, score points and challenge friends and family – all you have to do is download the app!
The games will be available for use anytime between 9.00am Saturday, September 30 and 7.30pm Sunday, October 15, so you can complete missions and explore the locations at your leisure during the holidays.

How to get started:

  1. Download the goosechase app onto your smartphone from Play Store (Android) or Apple Store (Apple).
  2. Register for the app using a username and password of your choice, or sign in using Facebook.
  3. Search for the game located in your region - Sport BOP Redwoods Adventure; Sport BOP Waihi Beach Wonder; or Sport BOP Ohope Beach Discovery.
  4. Create a team; wait for the game to become 'live', and then get exploring!

PLEASE NOTE: Participants are counted as teams so you only need one person per team to download the app and create an account.
